Event videographer needed for an AI showcase on Nov 25 (Ottawa)
- Full Time
- Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Logan Robitaille
Logan Robitaille is hiring an event videographer for a one-night engagement in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on November 25. This role sits in the single-camera documentary and event video production space, covering live speaker sessions and conducting short-form interview content for a tech-focused showcase. It suits a freelance videographer comfortable working independently across multiple outputs in a single evening, whether that’s a film student building their reel or an experienced production professional looking for a focused short-term booking.
About the Role
The gig is a single-day production covering Spark’s AI Showcase, a community event from 6 to 10 PM that brings together AI and startup speakers in Ottawa. The videographer operates as a one-person crew responsible for both video capture and brief interview production within the same call, which is a common format in corporate event video production and branded content work. There is no second unit here, so the ability to shift between static camera operation and handheld interview setups in a live event environment is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a static camera to capture full speaker presentations from a fixed position throughout the event, ensuring clean, stable footage for each talk.
- Photograph each speaker during their presentation, delivering usable editorial stills as a secondary deliverable alongside the video package.
- Conduct and capture short-form on-camera interviews with speakers at the end of the evening, shifting the setup from passive event coverage to active interview production.
- Manage all camera and audio setups independently across multiple shooting scenarios within a four-hour production window.
- Maintain consistent exposure and composition across a mixed-lighting live event environment typical of conference and showcase productions.
What You Bring
- Demonstrated experience in event video production, corporate video, or documentary-style single-camera work.
- A portfolio that shows real production output, including speaker or interview coverage.
- Comfort operating without a crew in a live, uncontrolled environment where you are setting and adjusting your own audio and camera.
- Students and freelancers are both welcome to apply, so no specific credit level is required.
- Your own camera kit suited to event videography and available interview setups.
Why This Role
Logan Robitaille is producing coverage for Spark, an Ottawa-based AI and startup community with an active events calendar, which means this could be a repeatable booking for the right person. The rate is $120 per hour CAD for a four-hour call on November 25, making this a straightforward, well-compensated single-day engagement. For videographers who want clean event video production credits in a professional community setting, this is a direct and well-scoped booking.
