About the Role

The ABC News Digital team works directly alongside the network’s newsgathering division, producing written stories that complement and extend coverage from ABC’s television programs and field reporting units. On any given day, an intern in this role is filing general assignment stories, templating field notes, and checking transcripts against tape, which is the kind of production workflow experience that translates directly into staff editorial roles at broadcast and digital news outlets. The internship runs January 2027 through June 2027, full time, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Pitch and execute daily general assignment digital text stories on deadline, writing to AP style with accuracy and speed.
• Support editorial production by templating notes from field reporting teams and verifying transcripts against source tape.
• Contribute to digital news publishing workflows including story formatting within a content management system.
• Coordinate with photo, graphics, video, platform, and social teams to ensure stories are packaged in a visually complete format.
• Develop and research original story ideas in collaboration with ABC News Digital editorial leadership.

What You Bring

• Enrollment in an accredited college or university, taking at least one class at the time of application.
• Demonstrated news writing and reporting experience through coursework, campus media, or prior internships.
• Ability to produce accurate, well-organized copy under deadline pressure in a breaking news environment.
• A portfolio of published or produced work is required, and applications submitted without a portfolio link on the resume will not be considered complete.
• Experience with web publishing, SEO, or content management systems is preferred.
• Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and possess unrestricted work authorization.
