Job Position(s): Video Editor
Project Type: Commercial
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: See Post

Peregrine Technologies is hiring a Video Editor based in San Francisco, CA. This is a post-production role sitting inside a growing in-house creative team, responsible for editing documentary-style customer stories, brand films, product launches, and social content from raw unscripted footage through final delivery. It suits an editor with a documentary or branded content background who can find and shape narrative from interview-driven material without a script to lean on.

About the Role

The Video Editor reports to the Director of Video Production and owns the full post-production workflow across a range of formats, including customer testimonials, employee profiles, event coverage, and educational product content. Peregrine’s subject matter centers on public safety and first responders, so the work requires editorial judgment to handle complex, high-stakes stories with care and clarity. A typical day involves building rough cuts from hours of interview and verité footage, shaping pacing and music choices, managing media organization, and coordinating with motion designers, colorists, and sound mixers as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit documentary-style films and branded content from ingest through final delivery, including versioning for social, paid media, and platform-specific formats.
  • Build emotionally coherent narratives from unscripted interview footage, verité, b-roll, and product demonstration material across the post-production workflow.
  • Create polished titles, lower thirds, end cards, and light motion graphics within Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Apply expert-level color grading to establish a consistent visual aesthetic across all deliverables, balancing quality with a repeatable, scalable workflow.
  • Identify story opportunities within unused footage, turning secondary material into standalone content beyond the primary deliverable.
  • Manage relationships with freelance editors, motion designers, colorists, and sound mixers, bringing in the right creative partners when project scope requires it.

What You Bring

  • Significant professional editing experience across documentary, branded content, or commercial production, with a portfolio showing strong editorial judgment and narrative range.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, with end-to-end mastery of the post-production workflow from ingest to archive.
  • Highly developed instincts for interview-driven storytelling, pacing, music selection, sound design, and color.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with clear communication and consistent creative standards.
  • Ability to participate in productions when needed to capture edit notes and collaborate directly with the crew on set.

Why This Role

Peregrine Technologies is building a creative team with a long-term vision, which means the Video Editor coming in will have real influence over editorial standards, visual language, and post-production workflow as the department grows. The subject matter, people doing high-stakes public safety work, gives the storytelling genuine weight that most branded content roles do not offer. This is a staff position with meaningful creative ownership, not a production-line editing seat.

Apply now for the Video Editor role at Peregrine Technologies and bring your documentary editing background to stories that matter.
