Disney is hiring a Producer/Editor (Preditor) for National Geographic in Washington, DC. This role sits inside NatGeo’s social media and short-form content operation, where the Preditor produces, cuts, and publishes platform-native video across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and other digital channels. It suits a post-production professional who thinks in creator formats, not broadcast conventions, and can move fluidly between editorial judgment and hands-on editing.

About the Role

The Producer/Editor (Preditor) works within NatGeo’s social editorial team, collaborating daily with marketing, production services, and platform partners to turn archival and original footage into short-form stories. The post-production workflow here runs through a professional broadcast post-facility, so familiarity with organized media management, quality control pipelines, and asset delivery is part of the daily rhythm. A typical day involves pulling selects, assembling string outs, monitoring platform trends, and pushing finished assets through QC for distribution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and edit short-form social content for National Geographic’s Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, and YouTube channels, ensuring each piece feels native to its platform.
  • Apply real-time analytics and audience behavior data to inform editorial decisions on pacing, format, on-screen text, and sound design.
  • Submit string outs and finished assets through the post-production workflow for quality control, producer review, and platform scheduling.
  • Coordinate with audio, engineering, content operations, and post-production partners to troubleshoot media asset and technical issues within established workflows.
  • Perform quality control checks and format conversions on outbound media to confirm all deliverables meet platform specifications and NatGeo brand standards.
  • Maintain project archives and complete required work orders to support media stewardship and clean handoffs across the short-form production pipeline.

What You Bring

  • Demonstrated credits editing short-form or social-first video content, ideally within a broadcast, streaming, or digital media environment.
  • Proficiency in professional post-production software and comfort working inside a complex broadcast post-facility.
  • Fluency with TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts formats, including working knowledge of algorithm behavior and creator-style content trends.
  • Experience using AI-assisted editing or production tools as part of an active post-production workflow.
  • Strong editorial accuracy habits, including fact-checking sensibilities appropriate to a journalism-adjacent brand like National Geographic.

Why This Role

National Geographic carries one of the most recognized editorial brands in the world, and this role puts the Producer/Editor (Preditor) at the center of how that brand translates to a new generation of social audiences. Disney’s content infrastructure means access to substantial archival assets, cross-platform distribution, and collaboration with teams working across linear and streaming production. For a Preditor looking to build credits at the intersection of short-form content and prestige factual storytelling, this is a serious staff position worth pursuing.

Apply now for the Producer/Editor (Preditor) role at Disney and bring National Geographic stories to the platforms where audiences actually live.
