Lionsgate is hiring a Development Executive, Scripted Development for a one-year contract based in Toronto, ON. This role sits inside Lionsgate Canada’s Television department, where the work centres on building and managing a scripted content slate across drama and comedy series from first pitch through to sold development. It’s a fit for an experienced development professional with deep roots in the Canadian television industry and a track record of taking scripted series from concept to screen.

About the Role

You’ll work as part of a collaborative scripted development team shaping original limited and returning series for broadcasters, streamers, and other buyers. Day-to-day, this means reading material, giving notes, developing pitch packages, meeting with writers and producers, and managing relationships with platform executives on sold projects. The role covers the full development pipeline, from sourcing IP and talent-driven projects to sitting in the room during pitches.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate new scripted television development opportunities, including original concepts, established IP, co-productions, and strategic partnerships across drama and comedy.
• Develop original limited and returning series alongside creators, providing script-level creative feedback at every stage of the episodic television development process.
• Build and oversee compelling pitch materials and presentation packages designed to position projects for sale to broadcasters and streamers.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for sold projects, managing ongoing relationships with network and platform executives throughout the development cycle.
• Track industry trends, buyer mandates, competitive programming, and audience behaviour to inform the overall scripted content strategy and slate decisions.
• Work cross-functionally with Legal, Marketing, Corporate Communications, and Production teams to keep projects aligned and moving forward.

What You Bring

• Seven to ten years of experience in scripted television development at a network, studio, streamer, or production company, with a demonstrable slate of developed series.
• Established relationships with writers, directors, producers, agents, and buyers active in the Canadian television industry.
• Strong script development instincts and storytelling judgment across both drama and comedy formats.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with experience in Airtable and Canva preferred; graphic design capabilities are a plus.
• Producing experience and familiarity with business affairs and contracting processes are considered assets.
