Lead Technologist – New York

Untold Studios is hiring a Lead Technologist for their New York studio. This role sits at the center of a high-end VFX and post-production pipeline, responsible for everything from on-prem infrastructure and Flame review rooms to cloud connectivity and security compliance across the NY site. It suits a senior technologist who has worked inside a VFX studio or post-production facility and knows how to own a technical environment end-to-end without waiting to be told what needs fixing.

About the Role

You will be the senior-most technologist on site in New York, functioning as the primary point of contact for all technology decisions at that location while also contributing to studio-wide planning alongside Lead Technologists in Los Angeles, London, and Toronto. Day to day, that means keeping Autodesk Flame review rooms calibrated and running, managing cloud-to-office connectivity for artists, and coordinating with vendors on performance issues and local capacity. When large-scale projects land in New York, you work directly with studio leadership on the technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and maintain all on-prem infrastructure for the New York site, including WiFi, VPNs, networking, IO lines, CCTV, and NUC provisioning and automation.
• Manage Autodesk Flame setups and oversee review room calibration, including displays, audio, and colour-managed playback for client sessions.
• Maintain cloud-to-office connectivity for the New York artist environment, supporting a hybrid VFX pipeline across multiple global sites.
• Handle site security audits, firewall management, and compliance requirements including TPN-driven licensing constraints for the US region.
• Contribute to cross-site render farm capacity planning and Flame build and performance testing across the studio.
• Represent Untold Studios at industry events on the US East Coast and manage relationships with local and regional vendors.

What You Bring

• Substantial hands-on experience as a technologist inside a VFX studio or post-production facility, ideally at a senior or lead level.
• Deep working knowledge of Autodesk Flame, including setup, configuration, and performance troubleshooting.
• Practical experience with colour-managed review room environments and broadcast-grade display calibration.
• Solid grounding in network infrastructure, firewall management, VPN configuration, and cloud storage systems used in post-production workflow.
• Familiarity with TPN compliance requirements and the licensing landscape for US-based VFX operations.
