Project Type: Film & Television
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: $50,000 - $55,000/year

Lionsgate is hiring a Coordinator, Theatrical Finance to join their Theatrical Distribution team in Santa Monica, CA. This role sits at the intersection of finance and distribution, managing accounts receivable for domestic theatrical releases, from invoicing theater circuits to reconciling box office revenue across the full release cycle. It’s a strong fit for someone with an AR or collections background who wants to build a career inside a major studio’s distribution operation.

About the Role

The Coordinator, Theatrical Finance works within Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group, supporting the financial side of 10 to 15 wide theatrical releases per year alongside a slate of multi-platform titles. Day to day, this person is running payment applications, auditing box office reports, and keeping the Sales team current on account status for theater circuits across the country. The role touches nearly every stage of the domestic theatrical release cycle, which makes it one of the more well-rounded entry points into studio distribution finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Invoice and collect film rental revenue from U.S. theater circuits, applying payments from theater owners against active accounts.
  • Audit and process box office reports submitted by exhibitors, flagging discrepancies and ensuring revenue calculations align with deal terms.
  • Reconcile trial balances and review payment terms for each account, completing all necessary reconciliation work ahead of month-end reporting.
  • Report account status and outstanding payment information to the Theatrical Sales team on a weekly basis.
  • Review credit standing across accounts and recommend credit status changes or hold strategies tied to upcoming theatrical releases.
  • Run database queries and produce ad hoc reports, with involvement in software testing and documentation during system upgrades or implementations.

What You Bring

  • A minimum of two years in accounts receivable or collections, ideally with exposure to entertainment or media industry billing.
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, IF statements, and SUMIFS, plus experience managing large datasets through validation, cleansing, and reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with SQL queries and relational database management tools.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting, with coursework in media or entertainment considered a strong plus.
  • Genuine interest in box office and theatrical distribution, not just the finance function.

Why This Role

Lionsgate has generated nearly $15 billion in global box office revenue and carries an active slate of franchises including John Wick and The Hunger Games, which means this coordinator role has real volume and real accounts behind it. The compensation range for the Coordinator, Theatrical Finance position is $50,000 to $55,000, with full medical, vision, and dental coverage, 401(k) matching, and generous paid time off. This position is five days per week in office in Santa Monica.
