Vancouver Actors Guide is seeking performers for Tunnel Vision, a short film production based in Vancouver, BC. This project is casting on-camera talent for background and supporting roles within a narrative short film context, with performers contributing directly to scene-level storytelling in a boxing gym environment. Tunnel Vision suits actors at any stage of their career who are building short film credits and looking for on-set experience in a community-supported Vancouver production.

About the Role

Tunnel Vision is a short film production casting through Vancouver Actors Guide, the long-running free resource for the Vancouver acting community. Performers will work on set in scenes that include a physical altercation sequence and a boxing gym setting, working alongside the director and other cast to build the world of the film. Roles range from a scripted supporting part to background work, giving performers exposure to both directed performance and professional extra work on a short film set.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform the role of Bystander, intervening in a scene where the character James is being physically assaulted, requiring clear physical and emotional reaction work.
  • Extra performers will populate the boxing gym environment, maintaining consistent background action to support continuity across short film production takes.
  • Take direction from the production team on blocking, eyelines, and timing to match the editorial and visual needs of each scene.
  • Arrive on set prepared, having reviewed any sides or scene materials provided in advance by the production.
  • Maintain professionalism through multiple takes in a physically active set environment typical of short film production schedules.
  • Coordinate availability with the production team to confirm call times and any costume or wardrobe requirements for the boxing gym setting.

What You Bring

  • On-camera acting experience at any level, including student films, short film credits, or workshop productions.
  • A current headshot and resume suitable for short film casting submissions.
  • A demo reel is welcome but not required for consideration.
  • Physical comfort in a gym setting and ability to perform reactive or physical scene work as directed.
  • Availability for on-set shooting days in Vancouver, BC, with scheduling flexibility for a short film production timeline.

Why This Role

Vancouver Actors Guide has been a trusted free resource for the local acting community for years, and productions listed through them tend to be genuinely community-oriented rather than commercial casting calls. Tunnel Vision offers performers a real short film credit in a practical set environment, which remains one of the most direct ways to build a working reel in Vancouver.

Submit your materials for Tunnel Vision through Vancouver Actors Guide and get yourself in front of the production team for one of these on-camera roles.
