Film in Colorado
Film in Colorado is holding a casting call for actors to fill multiple roles in a short film production based in Colorado. This is an on-camera acting role on a narrative short film project, with performers contributing to a scripted story from principal photography through completion of the semester-long production schedule. The opportunity suits emerging actors with an interest in character-driven genre work, particularly those with experience or curiosity in student film production.
About the Role
The project is a roughly 20-page short film blending dystopian science fiction with psychological thriller, currently in pre-production under the direction of a student filmmaker enrolled in Warren Tech South’s video production program. Seven roles are available across a range of ages, and a director of photography is already attached, meaning the production has a defined visual approach going into auditions. Actors can expect a structured short film production workflow, from table reads and rehearsal through principal photography within the current semester.
Key Responsibilities
- Audition for one or more of the seven scripted roles across this short film production.
- Prepare and perform scenes consistent with the tone of dystopian science fiction and psychological thriller genres.
- Collaborate with the director during rehearsal to develop character choices that serve the script.
- Commit to the principal photography schedule as determined during pre-production planning.
- Maintain continuity of performance across multiple takes and setups on set.
- Review the script in advance of auditions to bring informed, specific choices to the casting process.
What You Bring
- Age range of 16 to 25 for most roles, with one role open to a slightly younger performer and one suited to actors between 30 and 60.
- Prior experience in short film production, student film, or on-camera work is a plus.
- Comfort with genre material, specifically science fiction and psychological thriller storytelling.
- Availability to commit to a production schedule within the current academic semester in Colorado.
Why This Role
Film in Colorado supports emerging filmmakers and actors building their early credits, and this short film production offers on-screen work in a defined genre with a clear creative vision already in place. The production has a DP attached and a complete script, which is a more developed starting point than many student film casting calls. For actors looking to add narrative short film work to their reel, this is a concrete opportunity with a filmmaker who has a specific story to tell.
