This is a camera department role focused on wedding cinematography and corporate video production, where the work spans live event shooting, second-camera operation, and post-production support. About the Role

The Assistant Videographer works directly alongside Substance Films’ lead videographers across two core production streams: wedding films and corporate video. Day-to-day, that means rigging and wrapping camera, lighting, and audio equipment, running a second camera through ceremonies and receptions, and picking up B-roll under the direction of the lead. Post-production support, including file management and basic editorial work in Premiere Pro, is also part of the position.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a second camera during wedding ceremonies, receptions, and corporate events, capturing coverage that complements the lead videographer’s primary angle.
• Set up and pack down camera rigs, lighting setups, and audio equipment before and after each shoot.
• Capture B-roll, cutaways, and supporting footage as directed, contributing to the overall edit structure.
• Assist with post-production workflow tasks including media offload, file organisation, and basic sequence assembly when required.
• Maintain equipment in working order and flag any technical issues to the lead videographer before and during production.
• Be available for weekend shoots, as the majority of wedding production work falls on Saturdays and Sundays.

What You Bring

• A diploma or degree in film, media production, communications, or a related field. Fresh graduates are considered.
• Hands-on proficiency with DSLR, mirrorless, or cinema cameras. This is a hard requirement for the role.
• Some working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro or comparable editing software, even from student or personal projects.
• A portfolio or showreel that demonstrates your eye, whether from student productions, personal work, or any professional credits.
• Reliable availability for weekend wedding shoots and the ability to work calmly in live event environments.
