DNEG
DNEG is hiring a Head of Pipeline to lead production technology across two studio locations in Mumbai and Bengaluru, India. This role sits at the centre of DNEG’s VFX pipeline infrastructure, overseeing the tools, systems, and workflows that keep large-scale visual effects production running across active feature film and episodic television projects. It suits a senior pipeline professional who has moved from hands-on TD work into leading teams and shaping the technical direction of a major VFX studio.
About the Role
The Head of Pipeline reports into Production Technology and owns the end-to-end pipeline strategy across both the Mumbai and Bengaluru facilities, two of DNEG’s primary production hubs. Day to day, this means working directly with VFX supervisors, production management, and department leads to ensure the pipeline supports live show requirements without friction. The role carries real authority over staffing, tooling decisions, and the long-term architecture of the studio’s post-production workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the overall VFX pipeline architecture across the Mumbai and Bengaluru studios, ensuring consistency and scalability across concurrent productions.
- Lead and manage a team of pipeline TDs and developers, setting priorities aligned to both show deadlines and long-term infrastructure goals.
- Work with VFX supervisors and production coordinators to identify workflow bottlenecks and deliver technical solutions before they impact shot delivery.
- Drive the evaluation, integration, and deployment of new pipeline tools across departments including lighting, compositing, FX, and creature.
- Establish engineering standards, code review practices, and documentation processes across the pipeline development team.
- Collaborate with global technology leads at DNEG to align local pipeline development with studio-wide post-production workflow strategy.
What You Bring
- Significant experience in VFX pipeline development, with a proven track record at the department head or senior lead level on feature film or episodic television productions.
- Deep working knowledge of industry-standard DCC tools including Houdini, Maya, Nuke, and Katana, alongside pipeline frameworks such as USD and Shotgrid.
- Strong Python development background with experience building and maintaining production pipeline systems at scale.
- Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring pipeline TD teams across multiple shows running simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate technical constraints and solutions clearly to non-technical production stakeholders.
Why This Role
DNEG is one of the most active VFX studios in the world by shot volume, with a consistent slate of major feature film and streaming projects running across its global facilities. The Mumbai and Bengaluru studios are core production centres, not satellite offices, which means this Head of Pipeline role carries genuine influence over how the studio operates. For a pipeline professional looking to lead at scale, the scope here is real.
