A typical day involves ingesting and organising footage, rough-cutting sequences under editorial direction, and preparing packages for review in a broadcast post workflow. The role offers direct exposure to how a global news organisation develops and finishes video stories at pace.

Key Responsibilities

• Cutting and assembling footage for CNN features packages across digital and broadcast distribution formats.
• Managing media ingest, logging, and file organisation within the post-production workflow to maintain editorial continuity.
• Syncing audio, laying music beds, and integrating graphics in line with CNN’s established broadcast standards.
• Reviewing and selecting from raw rushes to support senior editors in building coherent narrative sequences.
• Exporting and delivering finished video assets to correct technical specifications for broadcast and online platforms.
• Supporting the features team with archival research and sourcing existing CNN footage relevant to current productions.

What You Bring

• Some prior experience editing video content, whether through academic coursework, short-form production, or a previous internship.
• Working knowledge of professional non-linear editing software such as Avid Media Composer or Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Familiarity with broadcast or factual television production formats and editorial structure.
• An understanding of pacing, storytelling, and how editorial choices serve journalistic content.
• Strong organisational habits for managing large media libraries within a shared post-production environment.
