About the Role

The Level B Technician – Technical Director works within the station’s daily news production workflow, supporting and directing newscasts that are part of the roughly 1,200 hours of local news FOX Television Stations produce each week. Special segments and remote productions also fall within this position’s scope.

Key Responsibilities

• Assistant direct automated live newscasts using Sony ELC production systems, including macro generation and audio trimming functions.
• Operate Sony MLS, XPS, and MVS series production switchers at an expert level during live broadcast television news production.
• Manage Vinten robotic camera systems and perform camera shading across all studio cameras to maintain consistent visual quality on air.
• Fill in as director on newscasts using iNews newsroom computer systems when production scheduling requires it.
• Support pre-show planning for special segments, contributing to decisions on sets, lighting, and shot blocking alongside the crew.
• Maintain the control room and studio technical systems in coordination with the broader production and engineering team.

What You Bring

• Expert-level proficiency with Sony MLS, XPS, and MVS series switchers in a live broadcast production environment.
• Working knowledge of Vinten robotic camera systems and their integration into live studio workflows.
• Experience with iNews or a comparable newsroom computer system used in broadcast news production.
• Familiarity with Chyron graphics systems is a meaningful plus for this role.
• Proficiency with Sony ELC automated production systems is preferred, though not required.
• Ability to give clear direction to crew under the pressure of live news directing, with strong communication skills throughout.
