Department For over 60 years, East 15 has produced actors, directors, producers, theatre practitioners and technicians for the international stage, TV, film and radio. In 2000, East 15 merged with the University of Essex, marking an exciting new chapter in the history of both institutions and providing students with more opportunities, including our specialist courses. East 15 offers an extraordinary, dynamic and unique portfolio of Undergraduate, Master’s and PhD courses that span many areas of training for actors, directors, producers, technical theatre specialists and students of theatre practice. A member of the Federation of Drama Schools, it is one of a leading group of UK conservatoires and is now one of the largest specialist drama schools in the UK, with a distinguished international teaching staff and an undergraduate and extensive postgraduate population of over 800 students. Duties of the Role We are looking for a technical expert in costume supervision and wardrobe management. The post holder may additionally have an interest in costume design, augmenting the resident technical teams’ skills.  The post holder is responsible for delivering production support, including costume sourcing/making, maintenance, budgeting, rehearsal room support and facilitation across a dynamic range of productions, including established texts, devised work, student-led festivals, Christmas shows, and other ancillary projects within the department. Based at our Colchester Campus, the post holder will act as a production lead in the department, supporting the broader department output and learning activities across East 15 – Colchester. Helping to supplement the skills existing within the department.  This full-time role will be based in Colchester and will require infrequent travel to other venues and locations for project delivery. There may be occasional (infrequent) support required for the Loughton Campus on an ad hoc basis. Skills and qualifications required. Experience of professional theatre working environments is essential, and previous work within an educational setting is desirable. The candidate will have relevant professional links, strong organisational skills, and technical knowledge to support the maintenance and upkeep of wardrobe equipment. The right candidate should have a hands-on ability and experience in differing costume styles, material and making techniques, demonstrating outstanding integration of theatre and workroom health and safety considerations in their working methods alongside the ability to collaborate with directors, designers, facilitators and guest groups. Please note – although this role is based at the Colchester campus, the interviews are to be held at the East 15 Loughton campus.  Please use the ‘Apply’ button to read further information about this role including the full job description and person specification which outlines the full duties, skills, qualifications and experience needed for this role.
