About the Role

CBS News 24/7 is Paramount’s flagship national streaming news service, operating around the clock out of the CBS Broadcast Center in New York. This Producer position covers the Monday through Friday early morning shift, 3 am to 11 am ET, putting you in the chair during some of the most time-sensitive broadcast news production of the day. The role is covered under the WGAE streaming agreement, placing it within a defined union structure that governs newscast production at the network level.

Key Responsibilities

• Run the live control room during the morning newscast block, making real-time editorial and production decisions as breaking news develops.
• Develop, write, and produce news segments from the ground up, including script writing, rundown management, and timing programs with an eye for pacing and urgency.
• Oversee the creation of news graphics and coordinate with editors to ensure finished segments meet broadcast standards before air.
• Work directly with national assignment editors, field reporters, and executive producers to align content decisions with CBS News editorial guidelines.
• Maintain broadcast writing standards across all produced content, including active conversational copy, accurate grammar, and clear on-air presentation.
• Apply strong editorial judgment when vetting sourcing, story framing, and factual accuracy under the time constraints of live television production.

What You Bring

• Five or more years of experience in broadcast or cable news production.
• Proven background as a line producer with direct live control room experience on a newscast.
• A solid journalism foundation, including news judgment, rundown management, and concise broadcast writing.
• Familiarity with WGAE agreements and working within a guild-covered production environment.
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in a newsroom setting.
