Project Type: Commercial
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Hearst Magazines is hiring a Junior Video Editor based in London, England, to join the in-house video team at House of Hearst in St James’s. This is a post-production role focused on editing platform-native content across a portfolio of consumer media brands including ELLE, Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Harper’s Bazaar and more, covering everything from social-first campaigns to branded commercial productions. It suits an editor who has moved beyond assisting and is ready to own projects end-to-end across a multi-brand digital publishing environment.

About the Role

The Junior Video Editor sits within Hearst UK’s Creative Services team, working directly alongside producers, directors, journalists and art directors across the full brand portfolio. Day-to-day output spans editorial features, branded partnerships and social content optimised for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook, with each edit taken from ingest through to final delivery. The post-production workflow here is genuinely varied, moving between short-form social cuts and longer commercial formats within the same week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit a broad range of video content across multiple consumer media brands, including editorial features, event coverage and commercial campaigns, using Adobe Premiere Pro as the primary editing tool.
  • Create platform-optimised cuts tailored to the specific format, aspect ratio and audience behaviour of each digital channel.
  • Apply colour correction, audio balancing and quality control to achieve a broadcast-quality finish across all deliverables.
  • Build motion graphics and titles using Adobe After Effects, maintaining brand consistency across each publication’s distinct visual identity.
  • Use video performance data and audience insights to inform creative decisions and improve engagement on future edits.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously within a structured post-production workflow, hitting deadlines without compromising output quality.

What You Bring

  • Proven editing experience using Adobe Premiere Pro, with working knowledge of After Effects and familiarity with Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • A background editing for consumer-facing brands, publishers, agencies or media organisations, with a reel that demonstrates strong narrative structure and pacing.
  • Solid understanding of how video content performs across social and digital platforms, with experience cutting for multiple formats.
  • Ability to interpret a creative brief independently and deliver polished edits with minimal supervision.

Why This Role

Hearst Magazines operates one of the largest multi-brand publishing portfolios in the UK, which means genuine variety in the type of content an editor here will cut across their career. The role offers direct exposure to branded partnership productions and commercial campaigns alongside editorial work, which is a meaningful combination for a junior editor building a versatile post-production career. The salary is circa £35,000, dependent on experience and assessed in line with the candidate’s skills, knowledge and relevant expertise.

Apply now for the Junior Video Editor position at Hearst Magazines and bring your editing work to one of the UK’s most recognised media portfolios.
