Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Digital Remedy is hiring a part-time Video Editor to join their team in Portland, Maine. This role sits squarely in the post-production workflow for daily broadcast news, covering everything from routine news edits to longer-form sweep period pieces. It’s a good fit for an editor who knows the rhythm of a newsroom and can cut clean, story-driven packages under real deadline pressure.

About the Role

The Video Editor works within the news department, cutting content for daily broadcasts and special projects alongside anchors, reporters, and producers. A typical day involves ingesting feeds from news bureaus, assembling packages, and turning around edits quickly enough to make air. This is newsroom post-production, not a slow-burn editorial environment, so the work is consistent and the pace is real.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit video packages for daily news coverage, including hard news, features, and scheduled sweep period pieces.
  • Ingest and manage news feeds from external bureaus and national news organizations, keeping media organized within the post-production workflow.
  • Work directly with on-air talent and field reporters to shape the video elements of live newscasts.
  • Operate within tight broadcast deadlines, including early morning shifts that require the edit to be picture-locked before the first block goes to air.
  • Maintain consistent output quality across multiple story formats, from vo-sots to fully produced segments.
  • Collaborate with producers on story structure and pacing to ensure edits match the tone and timing of the rundown.

What You Bring

  • A college degree in a relevant field, or a minimum of one year of professional experience in broadcast or news editing.
  • Working knowledge of Final Cut Pro and Avid NewsCutter XP, both of which are a strong advantage in this role.
  • Familiarity with broadcast news post-production workflow, including ingesting feeds and cutting to format.
  • Ability to manage multiple edits across a shift while keeping output clean and on-time.
  • Professional composure when working across departments with varied personalities and competing priorities.

Why This Role

Digital Remedy offers a newsroom culture that actually supports its people, with real upward mobility for editors who perform well and want to grow. The part-time Video Editor position is a solid entry point into daily broadcast production, with consistent work across a variety of content types. Digital Remedy maintains an equal opportunity workplace and a drug-free environment.
