Job Position(s): Video Editor II, Salt Lake City, UT
Project Type: Streaming Content
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Western Governors University is hiring a Video Editor II based in Salt Lake City, Utah. This role sits within WGU’s in-house creative marketing team, where the editor owns post-production workflow from raw footage assembly through color grading, audio mixing, and motion graphics delivery across digital, social, and broadcast channels. It suits a mid-to-senior editor who has moved beyond pure cutting and now thinks in terms of brand systems, cross-channel campaigns, and scalable post-production pipelines.

About the Role

The Video Editor II works inside WGU’s Creative Video Team, producing content that supports enrollment marketing, brand awareness, and live event coverage at an institutional scale. A typical day moves between offline editing, motion graphics work, and creative development sessions with copywriters, designers, and a Creative Director. This person also owns the maintenance of video style guides and templates that keep output consistent across the broader team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit raw footage, dialogue, sound effects, and music into cohesive narratives while applying color correction and audio enhancement to broadcast-ready standards.
  • Build motion graphics and animation sequences that serve integrated marketing campaigns across digital, social, and traditional media channels.
  • Lead brainstorming and concept development sessions, translating campaign briefs into concrete post-production approaches with measurable creative direction.
  • Develop rough cuts, storyboards, and animatics to pitch cross-channel concepts before committing to full production.
  • Design and maintain post-production workflow systems, including brand asset libraries, templates, and project management structures that support team efficiency.
  • Apply ADA-compliant captioning standards and manage assets through Digital Asset Management platforms.

What You Bring

  • 5 or more years of professional post-production experience covering editing, motion graphics, color correction, and animation.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in film studies, multimedia, or a related field, or 7 years of equivalent experience in film and television production.
  • Proven command of industry-standard post-production software used in marketing or broadcast editorial pipelines.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana, Wrike, Trello, or ClickUp.
  • Live event or broadcast production experience is a plus, as is working knowledge of live streaming platforms and captioning workflows.

Why This Role

WGU operates one of the largest online university systems in the United States, which means the creative team produces at real volume with genuine reach, not internal content that disappears into a shared drive. The Video Editor II role comes with a defined career track inside a staffed in-house studio, not a freelance arrangement. The compensation range for this position is $62,100.00 to $93,200.00, with placement determined by experience, skills, and organizational factors.

Apply now for the Video Editor II position at Western Governors University and bring your post-production background to a team building content at scale.
