Job Position(s): Video Editor
Project Type: Streaming Content
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Nebraska Broadcasters Association is hiring a Video Editor at KECI, their NBC affiliate serving Western Montana out of Missoula. This role sits inside the broadcast news post-production workflow, where the editor shapes daily newscasts and digital content by cutting video, natural sound, and graphics to air-ready standards. It suits a news editor who understands pacing under deadline and knows how visual sequencing drives a story forward.

About the Role

The Video Editor works directly within KECI’s newsroom, supporting producers and reporters across daily newscasts, special projects, and streaming platform content. On any given day, that means ingesting and organizing field footage, assembling packages to broadcast spec, and turning around cuts quickly enough to hit multiple show times. It is a production-forward role that requires fluency in broadcast news operations, not just technical editing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit news packages, teases, and special segments for daily newscasts using non-linear editing software, cutting to both time and journalistic standards.
  • Assemble sequences that combine field video, natural sound, reporter track, and lower-third graphics into finished broadcast-ready content.
  • Manage incoming media from field photographers, reporters, and network feeds, keeping organized and accessible for producers across multiple rundowns.
  • Prepare and format content for streaming and digital platforms alongside traditional broadcast delivery.
  • Monitor video quality and consistency across live broadcasts, flagging technical issues to engineering before they hit air.
  • Coordinate with newsroom leadership and producers to manage edit bay priorities across a multi-show daily production schedule.

What You Bring

  • Prior experience editing in a professional newsroom, production company, or broadcast post-production environment.
  • Proficiency with non-linear editing systems standard to broadcast news workflows, such as Avid Media Composer or similar NLE platforms.
  • A working knowledge of visual storytelling principles, including shot sequencing, pacing, and audio mixing for broadcast.
  • Ability to manage multiple edit requests simultaneously without losing accuracy or missing air times.
  • Familiarity with digital content delivery and multiplatform publishing alongside traditional broadcast output.

Why This Role

KECI is an established local news operation with a direct editorial footprint across Western Montana, giving an editor consistent, meaningful work in broadcast journalism rather than filler content. Nebraska Broadcasters Association supports a newsroom culture that values upward mobility and invests in its production staff over time. For an editor looking to build a serious broadcast news resume in a market where the work is real and the team is tight, this is a credible next step.

Apply now for the Video Editor role at Nebraska Broadcasters Association and bring your post-production skills to a newsroom that puts them to daily use.
