Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Dormont Manufacturing Co is hiring VFX Animators at all levels for a hybrid film and television role based in London, England. This position sits within the VFX department and focuses on animating characters and objects through to final shot delivery, working directly within an established VFX pipeline across live-action productions. It suits animators who are comfortable operating at pace across both film and episodic television, from blocking through to polish.

About the Role

The VFX animation team at Dormont Manufacturing Co works across a mixed slate of film and TV productions, contributing animation from early pre-vis stages through to final compositing handoff. Day-to-day work centres on shot animation within Maya, iterating on notes from supervisors, and maintaining consistent output quality across sequences. This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of two days on-site per week at the London studio, with the remainder worked remotely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Animate characters, creatures, and objects to brief across assigned shots, meeting turnaround targets within the production schedule.
  • Interpret and apply notes from the VFX Supervisor and Animation Supervisor across successive rounds of review.
  • Maintain shot continuity and animation consistency across sequences in collaboration with other animators on the same production.
  • Manage personal shot lists and flag pipeline or asset issues to the relevant department lead in a timely way.
  • Work within established post-production workflow conventions, including scene file organisation, versioning, and delivery naming conventions.
  • Contribute to dailies and internal reviews, presenting work clearly and responding to redirects without requiring repeated notes.

What You Bring

  • A portfolio demonstrating character and object animation across film or television productions, with clearly labelled shot credits.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Maya as a primary animation tool within a production environment.
  • Working knowledge of UNIX-based systems and command-line navigation as part of a studio pipeline.
  • Experience animating within a VFX pipeline, including familiarity with shot handoff between departments.
  • Ability to work across multiple shots simultaneously and maintain consistent quality under production deadlines.

Why This Role

Dormont Manufacturing Co offers VFX Animators the chance to work across a varied production slate that spans feature film production and television, giving animators at all career stages meaningful shot ownership. The hybrid structure provides genuine schedule flexibility without removing animators from the collaborative environment that good VFX work depends on. For animators looking to build credits across multiple project types, this London-based role offers real breadth.
