Job Type
DreamWorks Animation is hiring a TV Development & Current Series Intern for their Glendale, California studio for Spring 2027. This role sits inside the television animation development and current series department, where the intern works directly alongside executives across both development and production to move scripted animated content from concept through episode delivery. It suits a student or recent graduate who wants real exposure to how animated series get built at a major animation studio, not just a seat in the corner.
About the Role
The TV Development & Current Series Intern is embedded in the team that manages original animated programming across all audience demographics, from early pitch to on-air episodes. Day to day, this person is reading scripts, sitting in on work-in-progress episode screenings, and helping prepare materials for internal presentations, which means they are touching the episodic television pipeline at nearly every stage. The internship runs January 25 through April 1, 2027, part-time at 24 hours per week, in person Tuesday through Thursday.
Key Responsibilities
- Shadow senior development executives and contribute a point of view on scripted animated content across both development and current series production.
- Read and assess scripts, review character and visual designs, and attend work-in-progress screenings of episodes in production.
- Research books, writers, and artists as potential sources for new television animation projects.
- Build pitch decks and coordinate with production teams to pull department assets for executive presentations.
- Submit writer submissions and pitches into the department’s internal tracking databases.
- Develop and present a final project built around an approved theme to department executives at the close of the program.
What You Bring
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate degree, with graduation within six months of the program start date.
- Working knowledge of Photoshop for asset preparation and presentation support.
- Ability to transcribe recorded meetings accurately and efficiently.
- Solid internet research skills applied to market and talent research in the television animation space.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to executives.
- Must be 18 or older, available to work in Glendale, and able to arrange your own housing and transportation.
Why This Role
DreamWorks Animation is one of the few animation studios where an intern can observe the full arc of a television series, from pitch room to screened episode, within a single program cycle. Applications close October 19, 2026 at 11:59pm PT, and the position pays up to $18.47 per hour. For anyone targeting a career in television animation development, this is the kind of direct access that is genuinely hard to find.
Apply now for the TV Development & Current Series Intern position at DreamWorks Animation and get inside the room where animated series are made.
