Georgia Production Partnership (GPP) is hiring a Sound Mixer for film production work based in Philadelphia, PA. This role suits an experienced location sound professional with a real track record on film or episodic television sets.

About the Role

The Sound Mixer operates as department head for production audio, working directly with the director and DP to plan coverage and manage sound logistics from prep through wrap. Day-to-day work includes rigging talent with lavs, operating the mixer and cart, coordinating with the boom operator, and delivering ISO tracks and a solid mix to editorial. GPP works across film production projects in the Philadelphia area and surrounding region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and manage the sound package for each shooting day, including cart setup, wireless frequencies, and IFB distribution for director and script.
  • Record dialogue, production sound effects, and ambience to a multi-track recorder, maintaining clean ISO tracks for the post-production workflow.
  • Coordinate closely with the boom operator to plan mic placement, coverage angles, and backup options for each scene.
  • Scout locations ahead of shooting days to identify noise issues, RF interference, and coverage challenges before they hit the schedule.
  • Deliver sound reports and properly labeled audio files to the editorial department at the end of each shooting day.
  • Communicate with the post-production supervisor and picture editor regarding any audio concerns, double-system playback needs, or ADR flags.

What You Bring

  • Minimum three to five years of credited experience as a production Sound Mixer on film or episodic television sets.
  • Proficiency with professional mixing consoles such as Sound Devices 688, 833, or Zaxcom Deva, and wireless systems including Lectrosonics and Zaxcom.
  • Working knowledge of Betso, ambient timecode systems, and standard multi-track recording formats accepted by editorial.
  • Demonstrated ability to own and maintain a personal sound package or experience renting and managing rental gear on short prep windows.
  • IATSE membership or eligibility is a plus and may be required depending on the production.
