About the Role

The Visual Development department at Framestore functions at the intersection of concept art, compositing, and pre-visualisation, feeding directly into VFX pipeline decisions on landmark productions. Day-to-day, this role involves generating high-quality visual targets, iterating on look development with directors and VFX supervisors, and integrating generative AI tools into the team’s existing post-production workflow. You will also carry mentorship responsibilities, helping to shape how the wider team approaches AI-assisted visual development.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and refine visual development composites in Nuke that establish the photographic and atmospheric language for VFX sequences.
• Integrate ComfyUI and other generative AI tools into the visual development workflow to accelerate look exploration and concept iteration.
• Work directly with VFX supervisors and directors to translate creative briefs into concrete visual targets used across the production pipeline.
• Mentor mid-level and junior visual development artists, providing technical and creative guidance on both traditional compositing and AI-assisted techniques.
• Evaluate and introduce new AI tools and processes that improve the quality and efficiency of the visual development pipeline.
• Maintain visual consistency across a production from early development through to final VFX delivery, bridging the gap between concept and comp.

What You Bring

• Extensive professional experience in visual development and VFX, with credits on feature film or high-end episodic television productions.
• Expert-level Nuke compositing skills used in a production environment, not just a freelance or personal context.
• Hands-on experience with ComfyUI and a working knowledge of generative AI image tools applied within a VFX or post-production workflow.
• A strong portfolio that demonstrates both technical compositing ability and a developed visual sensibility across varied production styles.
• Proven ability to mentor and lead artists within a studio setting.
