Key Responsibilities

• Create photorealistic digital matte paintings for use as environment extensions, set replacements, and full CG backdrops across film and episodic television productions.
• Project and composite matte painting assets directly inside Nuke, ensuring clean integration with live-action plates and lighting conditions.
• Interpret and paint from photographic reference, concept art, and location surveys to build environments that hold up under close editorial scrutiny.
• Manage your own shot workload against production schedules, flagging scope changes or technical issues to the VFX supervisor before they affect delivery.
• Contribute to internal reviews by presenting work clearly, incorporating feedback efficiently, and maintaining version control throughout the VFX pipeline.
• Support less experienced matte painting artists on the team by sharing technique and providing constructive input during internal critiques.

What You Bring

• Demonstrable senior-level experience as a matte painting artist with credits on feature film production or high-end episodic television.
• Strong working knowledge of Nuke compositing, including projection setups and camera mapping workflows.
• Proficiency in Photoshop for painting and texturing, with a portfolio that shows environment work at broadcast and theatrical quality.
• The ability to work accurately under production deadlines without requiring close supervision on established techniques.
• Strong foundational art skills including an understanding of light, perspective, colour, and atmosphere as they apply to realistic environments.
