About the Role

On any given day, this person is making real-time editorial calls on markets and economy coverage while also working with producers on episodic video series and helping reporters sharpen their beats. Key Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day breaking news coverage across business, markets, tech, media, and economy beats, setting editorial priorities against the competitive landscape in real time.
• Oversee editing of text pieces to maintain consistent quality standards across CNN’s digital publishing workflow.
• Manage reporters and editors at all career stages, including assigning coverage targets, identifying gaps in the beat structure, and delivering substantive performance feedback.
• Collaborate with broadcast television and audio teams to develop video and podcast offerings on business and finance topics.
• Develop new digital storytelling formats designed to help general audiences understand complex economic and financial stories.
• Drive talent development across the team, helping editors and reporters build clear, ownable beats with defined coverage priorities.

What You Bring

• 12 or more years of editorial experience in a digital news environment, with direct coverage of business, markets, and the economy.
• 3 to 5 or more years managing editorial teams in a multiplatform newsroom.
• Minimum 10 years of editing experience, with a demonstrated record of producing exclusive, agenda-setting journalism.
• Hands-on experience working in digital video production or broadcast television.
• Deep familiarity with the competitive business news landscape and the outlets that shape it.
