This role sits inside the local news digital team, responsible for publishing and managing real-time content across web, social, streaming, and connected TV platforms as stories break. It suits a working journalist or digital news producer who is comfortable owning the full publishing workflow under deadline pressure.

About the Role

The Digital Content Creator works within FOX 5 DC’s newsroom as the primary digital point person on the nightside shift, Monday through Friday, coordinating with the Northeast Regional Digital Content Team to extend local news coverage across broadcast and streaming platforms. Day-to-day work involves publishing articles, video clips, push alerts, and live streams as news develops, while also managing VOD distribution for FOX LOCAL and connected TV audiences. This is a full-time, in-newsroom position where the output directly shapes how the DC, Maryland, and Virginia audience consumes local news across every screen.

Key Responsibilities

• Publish and manage breaking news content in real time across FOX 5’s CMS, apps, social platforms, and YouTube as stories develop on the assignment desk and in the field.
• Write articles, produce video clips, and issue push alerts with AP style accuracy during breaking news, major weather events, and high-traffic coverage windows.
• Manage live streams and VOD distribution for FOX LOCAL and social platforms, maintaining a consistent experience for connected TV audiences.
• Monitor wire services, social feeds, and scanners to identify developing stories and initiate digital coverage ahead of broadcast.
• Apply SEO best practices and real-time analytics to optimize story performance and maximize reach across web and mobile platforms.
• Partner with the Group Content Team and other FOX Television Stations markets to scale high-interest stories across the broader FTS network.

What You Bring

• Demonstrated experience publishing across CMS platforms in a local television news or digital newsroom environment.
• Hands-on background with social media distribution, YouTube publishing, and streaming platform workflows.
• Strong command of AP style and editorial judgment appropriate to live, breaking news coverage.
• Ability to coordinate across producers, field crews, and regional digital teams during high-pressure, high-volume news cycles.
• Familiarity with SEO strategy and analytics tools as applied to local news content.
