Bardel Entertainment is hiring a Senior Character Animator for a short-term contract role based in Vancouver, British Columbia. This position sits within the animation department and focuses exclusively on producing high-quality promotional content for an upcoming feature animation project, including trailer and marketing materials. It’s a strong fit for an experienced character animator who has worked on feature film production pipelines and can deliver cinematic-quality performance animation under a defined schedule.

About the Role

This is a 3.5-month contract starting late August or early September, embedded within a marketing animation pipeline rather than the primary production unit. Day-to-day work involves interpreting storyboards and layouts, executing polished character performance shots, and cycling through director feedback rounds to hit final delivery. The work demands someone who can read a shot, make strong acting choices, and turn clean animation with minimal back-and-forth.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce character animation for feature animation marketing materials, hitting the visual and performance bar expected of theatrical promotional content.
• Deliver expressive performance animation with clear attention to acting choices, body mechanics, weight, timing, and spacing across assigned shots.
• Translate storyboards and layout into finaled animation that holds up to the established style and character appeal of the film.
• Incorporate notes from the Animation Director and Animation Lead efficiently without sacrificing shot quality or missing production deadlines.
• Maintain consistent character performance across multiple shots, keeping facial performance and physicality on-model throughout the marketing pipeline.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure animation integrates cleanly within the broader production workflow for each deliverable.

What You Bring

• Significant professional experience animating characters for feature animation or high-end cinematic productions, demonstrated through a strong demo reel.
• Deep working knowledge of body mechanics, facial performance, posing, timing, and spacing at a feature film production standard.
• A track record of producing polished final shots with minimal supervision inside a structured animation studio pipeline.
• Experience creating animation for marketing, trailers, or promotional content is a genuine asset for this specific role.
• Strong organizational and communication skills suited to a short-contract, deadline-driven production environment.
