About the Role

The Scare Actor works within the performance ensemble at Goostrey Graveyards, contributing to a coordinated immersive experience across multiple themed areas of the attraction. A typical shift involves maintaining a character from call time through to breakdown, reacting to live audience responses and adjusting performance intensity accordingly. This is practical, physical live performance work, closer to immersive theatre production than passive entertainment, and the ensemble cast functions as a tight unit with cues, timing, and blocking that must land consistently across every run.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform a sustained character role within an assigned themed zone, using physical acting skills and expressive movement to drive the scare experience.
• Read live audience reactions in real time and shift performance register to maintain immersion without compromising visitor safety.
• Coordinate cues and blocking with fellow cast members to ensure scenes run with consistent timing across the full operational period.
• Maintain costume and makeup continuity throughout each shift, following the production’s established character guidelines.
• Assist with scene setup and prop placement before doors open and support breakdown procedures at the end of each session.
• Engage visitors through in-character interactive storytelling, making each walkthrough feel specific rather than scripted.

What You Bring

• Prior experience in acting, physical theatre, immersive performance, or dance is desirable, though strong performance instincts and commitment to the role carry equal weight.
• Confidence performing in full costume and stage makeup across extended shifts in an outdoor or semi-outdoor seasonal production environment.
• Ability to deliver consistent live performance under pressure with a large and varied public audience.
• Reliable availability and punctuality for scheduled shifts across the seasonal run at Goostrey Graveyards.
