Job Type
Disney is hiring a Production Associate at Disney Television Animation, based out of their Glendale, CA studio. This role sits within the production department of an animation studio pipeline, supporting pre-production and production workflows across character, prop, and location design assets. It suits someone early in their animation production career who is organized, comfortable with digital asset management, and ready to learn how a major television animation studio actually runs day to day.
About the Role
Disney Television Animation has over forty years of history producing kids and family content, spanning 2D, CG, and stop-motion formats for both long-form and short-form episodic television. The Production Associate works directly with artists and production crew through the completion of pre-production, keeping artwork files organized, shipments on track, and communication flowing between departments and vendor facilities. A typical day involves managing model packs, uploading assets to Insight, pulling reference for artists, and taking notes on vendor calls and animation launches.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, label, categorize, and prepare final model packs of character models, props, and location designs for shipment to external production facilities.
- Upload and organize asset files within Insight and prep materials for Background Painters and Color Designers in standardized formats with consistent naming conventions.
- Perform quality control checks on line quality in digital artwork and obtain Director approvals on designs before they move through the animation pipeline.
- Take notes during Zoom calls with vendors, animation launches, and other production meetings, then distribute them to the relevant crew.
- Flag workflow inefficiencies and suggest improvements to production pipelines, including opportunities for asset re-use and complexity reduction.
- Assist with archiving artwork at the end of a production and help prep materials for awards submissions.
What You Bring
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent production work experience in television animation or a related field.
- Proficiency in ToonBoom Storyboard Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with familiarity in Ftrack or comparable production tracking tools.
- Working knowledge of Insight for asset management within an animation studio environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deliverables across an active pre-production schedule.
- Familiarity with Final Draft 9.0, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Acrobat Pro is a plus.
Why This Role
Disney Television Animation is one of the few studios with an active slate across multiple animation formats simultaneously, which means a Production Associate here gets exposure to a range of production pipelines that most studios simply do not offer. Applications submitted to this posting remain valid until December 31, 2026, and candidates may be considered for any Production Associate positions that open within that window. The hiring range for this position in California is $43,600 to $59,800 per year, with bonus and long-term incentive units potentially included as part of the full compensation package.
