About the Role

This Production Assistant position supports the Associate Producers and Producers who drive NBC News Daily, a live broadcast news program that covers the major stories of the day alongside breaking news coverage. The day-to-day work lives inside Avid editing, graphics creation, story research, and rundown management, all running simultaneously against hard air times. Key Responsibilities

• Edit video and audio on Avid for assigned stories, selecting the strongest sound bites and footage to support each segment.
• Build and update graphics for daily broadcast segments, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the current rundown.
• Research and fact-check stories at speed, maintaining the editorial standards expected in live television news production.
• Monitor the show rundown continuously to confirm all video and graphic elements are placed, updated, and ready before air.
• Pitch original story ideas for daily segments and future coverage that serve the NBC News Daily audience.
• Jump into breaking news coverage as it develops, shifting priorities quickly when the rundown changes close to broadcast.

What You Bring

• At least two years of experience in broadcast, digital, or cable news production, including internships that count toward that total.
• Hands-on Avid editing experience, with the ability to cut video and audio efficiently under deadline.
• A working knowledge of news graphics production and the ability to turn around accurate visuals quickly.
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience in journalism or media production.
