This role sits squarely in post-production, cutting promotional trailers and sizzle reels that represent the region’s film and television projects to distributors, festivals, and industry partners. It’s a strong fit for an editor who knows how to build tension and story in under two minutes and has a feel for the promotional side of the post-production workflow.
About the Role
The Trailer Editor works within the post-production arm of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office, supporting the promotion of indie film productions and regional projects that come through the Philadelphia market. Day to day, this means cutting selects, building temp music beds, working through multiple versions with stakeholders, and delivering final picture-locked trailers optimized for festival submissions and digital platforms. The work spans a range of genres, so versatility in pacing and tone is core to the job.
Key Responsibilities
- Cut trailers, teasers, and sizzle reels for indie film and television projects originating from or supported by the Philadelphia region.
- Build and refine rough cuts through multiple rounds of notes, maintaining version control and organized project files throughout the editorial process.
- Source and temp music, sound design, and licensed assets to support picture editorial before the final audio mix.
- Collaborate directly with directors and producers to align the promotional cut with the creative intent of the feature film or episodic project.
- Deliver final exports in formats required by film festivals, streaming platforms, and theatrical distributors.
- Manage media ingest, bin organization, and archiving within the post-production workflow to keep projects on schedule.
What You Bring
- Demonstrated experience cutting trailers or promotional content for feature film, documentary, or episodic television productions.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro or Avid Media Composer at a professional level.
- A working knowledge of color correction, audio sweetening, and basic motion graphics within an editorial context.
- A reel that shows range across genres and formats, ideally including at least one indie film credit.
- Strong communication skills when receiving and interpreting creative notes from directors, producers, or film office staff.
