SsCustom Pty Ltd is hiring a Part-Time Videographer and Video Editor based out of Carrum Downs in Melbourne, Victoria. This role sits across production and post-production, responsible for capturing workshop footage and delivering finished short-form and long-form video content for social and YouTube distribution. It suits a self-shooting editor who is comfortable owning a project from first shot to final export without a crew around them.

About the Role

SsCustom operates a custom automotive fabrication workshop and also runs Everlast Australia, giving this role a varied content slate that spans custom car builds, fabrication tool manufacturing, welding equipment, and product demonstrations. On any given day, the Part-Time Videographer and Video Editor might be on the workshop floor capturing a fabrication process, then back at the edit suite cutting it into a two-minute Reel or a ten-minute YouTube documentary-style video. The production workflow is self-directed, which means the right person needs to bring both the technical skills and the editorial instinct to shape raw workshop footage into content that holds an audience.

Key Responsibilities

• Shoot on-location in a working fabrication workshop, capturing build processes, finished vehicles, product demonstrations, and behind-the-scenes content for short-form video production.
• Edit footage through a complete post-production workflow, including audio mix, music licensing, caption integration, and colour correction to a broadcast-ready finish.
• Develop content ideas, hooks, and narrative structures for YouTube long-form video, targeting episodes of approximately ten minutes built around workshop projects.
• Direct on-camera talent from the SsCustom team in naturalistic, unscripted segments suited to automotive and fabrication content.
• Plan and produce short-form content formatted specifically for Instagram Reels, Facebook, and YouTube Shorts, with platform-native editing conventions applied.
• Contribute to content strategy by identifying which workshop projects and product lines have the strongest story potential for ongoing series development.

What You Bring

• Demonstrated experience as a self-shooting video editor with a portfolio that shows both production and post-production credits.
• Proficiency in professional editing software and familiarity with colour grading and audio post-production tools standard to independent video production.
• Experience producing short-form video content for social platforms, with an understanding of retention-focused editing techniques.
• Ability to record clean audio in a noisy industrial environment using appropriate microphone selection and placement.
• An existing interest in automotive culture, welding, or fabrication is a genuine advantage for understanding what matters in the work being filmed.
• Own filming equipment is preferred. Availability, rate expectations, and gear should be outlined when applying.
