Operations Manager

Untold Studios is hiring a VFX Operations Manager based in Los Angeles to lead resource planning and artist management across its VFX department. About the Role

The VFX Operations Manager works within the Operations team, reporting to the Head of Operations and Executive Director of Operations while partnering closely with the Heads of VFX. Day to day, this person owns resource allocation across the artist team, manages a team of Resource Managers and Coordinators, and keeps the studio’s resource management system accurate and current. The role covers everything from resolving crew conflicts on live VFX productions to forecasting upcoming hires as the slate develops.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive resource decision-making across the VFX department, resolving scheduling conflicts between productions and ensuring artist teams are fully utilized month to month.
• Manage day-to-day operations of Resource Managers and Resource Coordinators, setting priorities and creating clear paths for their development.
• Oversee all data within CETA, maintaining accuracy so capacity and revenue targets can be tracked and met reliably.
• Build and manage the studio’s freelance network, controlling freelance spend within the VFX team across active and upcoming projects.
• Partner with Heads of VFX on performance reviews, personal development plans, and identifying training or mentoring needs within the artist team.
• Forecast key hires for the VFX department, aligning artist talent with the right projects, strategic partnerships, and growth opportunities.

What You Bring

• Several years of resource management or operations experience inside a VFX studio or post-production facility.
• Hands-on familiarity with resource management software and production tracking tools used in VFX pipeline environments.
• A track record managing crew across multiple concurrent VFX productions, including both staff and freelance artists.
• Strong understanding of how utilization and capacity planning connect to studio revenue targets.
• Experience managing or mentoring junior operations staff in a studio setting.
