Job Position(s): Media Production Assistant - Internship
Project Type: TV Series
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: $20/hr

DeSales Media Group in Brooklyn, New York is hiring a Media Production Assistant Intern to join their in-house production department. This role sits across pre-production, studio production, and post-production workflow, supporting the creation of television and digital content with a faith-based editorial focus. It suits a current film or media student looking for structured, real-world production experience beyond classroom projects.

About the Role

The Media Production Assistant reports directly to the Senior Producer and works across both studio and field productions, including daily Mass recordings, special event coverage, and new digital programming. A typical day might involve prepping camera and audio gear for a studio shoot in the morning, then moving into Premiere Pro for timeline organization or file management in the afternoon. The role touches every stage of the production pipeline, which makes it a solid foundation for anyone building toward a career in television production or digital media.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with pre-production for daily and special Mass recordings, including reviewing liturgical readings and confirming clergy availability ahead of shoot days.
  • Work as a camera assistant or production assistant on studio and field shoots, supporting A/V capture, lighting setups, and overall floor operations.
  • Manage non-linear editing timelines in Premiere Pro and support rendering and export workflows within the post-production pipeline.
  • Organize digital asset databases and maintain file structures to keep production materials accessible across the department.
  • Create and organize social media content for new studio programming, including graphic design work in Photoshop and After Effects.
  • Support weekend productions and special event coverage as scheduled, including potential recordings of Italian and Polish Vigil Masses.

What You Bring

  • Current enrollment in a Communications, Media Production, Film, Television, or Digital Media degree program.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Windows-based systems, though Mac experience is also accepted.
  • Availability for a part-time schedule of 20 to 25 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Bilingual ability in Spanish or Haitian Creole is a plus given the programming scope.

Why This Role

DeSales Media Group operates a genuine television and digital content production environment, not a student-run lab, which means the production assistant experience here carries real professional weight. The role covers enough ground, pre-production, studio floor, and post-production workflow, that an intern leaves with credits across multiple disciplines rather than one narrow task. For anyone interested in faith-based media or episodic television production, this is a department with a consistent production slate and genuine mentorship built into the reporting structure.
