This role sits within the post-production workflow and is responsible for creating, sourcing, and archiving subtitle, dub, and accessibility assets for both domestic and international distribution. It is a strong fit for a post-production professional who understands the technical and creative demands of delivering localized content across theatrical DCP, home entertainment, and international release pipelines.
About the Role
The Localization Manager works cross-functionally with the post-production team and international servicing group, supporting feature film releases from US theatrical through Pay 1 output and international direct distribution. Day-to-day work spans coordinating with localization vendors, QCing subtitled and dubbed DCPs, managing LAS subtitle creation, and preparing accessibility files including SDH and audio description. During awards season, the role also supports subtitle preparation for submissions and voter screenings.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and QC English accessibility assets for US theatrical release, including captions and audio description, coordinating orders through to final delivery.
- Originate and wrap LAS subtitled DCPs for US theatrical release, sourcing existing subtitles from international distributors where available and checking for language accuracy and sub clashing.
- Manage subtitle and dub timelines for A24 international direct releases, including watchdown QC of localized DCPs and creation of downstream home entertainment files.
- Source and conform LAS dub material to US longplay home entertainment masters for the Pay 1 output agreement with HBO, originating dubs when existing materials cannot be sourced.
- Support international festival premieres including Berlin, Cannes, and Venice by handling subtitle origination and DCP creation for major A24 titles.
- Vet localization deliverables from production including spotting lists, dialogue lists, CCSLs, and Narrative Title Lists, and coordinate preliminary CCSL creation on a title-by-title basis.
What You Bring
- Hands-on experience in post-production localization across theatrical and home entertainment formats, including DCP packaging and subtitle conforming.
- Familiarity with accessibility formats including SDH subtitles, audio description, and nearfield mix requirements for home entertainment masters.
- Working knowledge of CCSL creation, M&E guidance for dubbing, and localization deliverable review within a feature film production context.
- Experience coordinating with international distributors and localization vendors across multiple languages and territories.
- Ability to create film localization guides that communicate creative intent to international distribution partners.
