Job Position(s): Lead Video Editor (Hybrid) — Fast, Viral Social Stories
Project Type: Short Film
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Daily Mail is hiring a Lead Video Editor based in Norwich, England, to drive short-form video output across its social media channels. This role sits within the digital post-production workflow, where the focus is cutting high-velocity story content optimized for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. It suits an editor who has built a real instinct for social storytelling and knows how to shape raw footage into content that stops a scroll.

About the Role

The Lead Video Editor works inside Daily Mail’s social video team, editing news-driven and feature stories that need to land quickly and perform strongly against platform algorithms. A typical day involves ingesting footage, building sequences under deadline pressure, and providing editorial guidance to junior editors on the team. The output is high volume and the turnaround is tight, so familiarity with an efficient post-production workflow is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit short-form video packages for social platforms, shaping raw footage and graphics into complete, publish-ready stories within tight turnaround windows.
  • Lead editorial decisions on pacing, structure, and narrative arc for each piece, ensuring content performs to platform-specific standards.
  • Oversee quality control across the team’s output, reviewing cuts from junior editors before content goes to final delivery.
  • Collaborate directly with producers and journalists to understand the editorial intent of each story and translate that into effective visual sequences.
  • Monitor social video performance data and apply those insights to evolving the team’s editing approach and content format.
  • Maintain an organised media management system within Adobe Premiere Pro, keeping project files and assets structured across concurrent productions.

What You Bring

  • 3 to 5 or more years of professional editing experience, with a portfolio weighted toward short-form and social video content.
  • Strong command of Adobe Premiere Pro as a primary editing tool within a daily production environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of what drives performance on social platforms, backed by real examples from previous roles.
  • Experience working to broadcast or digital publishing deadlines where version control and rapid turnaround are standard practice.
  • Confidence leading or mentoring a small editorial team within a structured post-production workflow.

Why This Role

Daily Mail operates one of the most widely read English-language news platforms in the world, which means the social video content produced here reaches a genuine mass audience rather than a niche one. The position comes with 25 days of annual holiday and a pension plan, and the hybrid setup in Norwich gives editors a workable balance between studio time and remote editing days. For an editor looking to lead rather than simply cut, this is a role with real scope.

Apply now for the Lead Video Editor position at Daily Mail and bring your short-form editorial skills to one of the biggest names in digital media.
