About the Role

The Head of Video leads the entire video department at The Free Press, a publication operating under Paramount, managing full-time staff and contractors across production and post-production. On any given day, this person is reviewing cuts, guiding guest bookings, developing new show concepts, and translating editorial priorities from senior leadership into actionable notes for producers and editors. The role carries profit-and-loss responsibility for the video organization, making it as much a business function as a creative one.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all video podcasts and shows from development through delivery, maintaining editorial standards across every platform on which content is distributed.
• Develop, greenlight, and launch new video formats, making decisions on editorial direction, guest selection, and on-camera presentation for each production.
• Build and execute a social clipping strategy designed to maximize reach and virality across short-form video platforms.
• Directly manage the Directors of Production and Post-Production, maintaining quality control from the initial shoot through final delivery.
• Serve as the operational bridge between department heads, producers, and editors, converting editorial vision into structured production and post-production workflow guidance.
• Set and track measurable KPIs for the video organization, with ownership of the video department’s budget and financial performance.

What You Bring

• Proven experience managing video teams across both production and post-production, ideally at a digital publisher or news media company.
• Deep knowledge of YouTube programming and optimization, with a track record of growing an audience through video podcast or episodic content.
• Hands-on fluency with production tools including cameras, microphones, Adobe Premiere, and remote recording platforms such as Riverside.
• Experience working directly with on-camera talent and shaping their performance and presentation across multiple formats.
• Familiarity with emerging AI tools as they apply to video production workflow and post-production efficiency.
