Key Responsibilities

• Apply lighting and shaders to produce final rendered images, or prepare and hand off simulation data cleanly to a Lighting TD depending on the shot’s needs.
• Work inside both commercial tools like Maya and Houdini and Framestore’s proprietary software as part of an established VFX pipeline.
• Design procedural approaches to effect creation, building tools and techniques that serve the specific requirements of each shot rather than relying on off-the-shelf solutions.
• Produce reviewable composites of all FX elements, giving supervisors and directors a clear read on how the work sits in context.
• Coordinate with other departments across the production workflow to make sure shots meet the creative brief and technical delivery standards.

What You Bring

• Demonstrable experience as an FX TD on feature film or high-end episodic productions, with credits that show a range of simulation types.
• Strong working knowledge of Houdini, the primary tool for this discipline, alongside Maya for scene integration.
• Ability to write and adapt pipeline tools as needed, not just operate within existing ones.
• Experience taking FX elements into lighting and comp, with an understanding of how simulations affect downstream departments.
• A reel that shows naturalistic physical effects alongside more stylised or effects-heavy work.
