Job Position(s): Freelance Video Editor
Project Type: TV Series
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: Paid - Salary

Fox News Media is hiring a Freelance Video Editor based in New York, New York. This role sits within the post-production workflow of one of cable’s largest news operations, cutting packages, promos, and broadcast-ready content across Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, and digital platforms including Fox Nation. It suits an editor with broadcast news experience who can make clean editorial decisions under real deadline pressure.

About the Role

You’ll be embedded in the editorial post team at Fox News Media, cutting across multiple shows and platforms rather than a single program, which means the output varies from breaking news packages to stylized feature segments. A typical day involves ingesting raw footage, making quick editorial calls, and delivering finished pieces that meet both technical broadcast specs and the network’s editorial standards. At 24 to 32 hours per week, the schedule rotates across overnights, weekends, and holidays, which is standard for a 24-hour news operation of this scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cut news packages and broadcast segments across Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network, delivering polished pieces under tight, breaking-news deadlines.
  • Serve as the final quality check on all audio and video before content goes to air, catching technical and editorial errors before they reach the broadcast.
  • Build stylized and distinctive segments that meet the visual standards of multiple programs across the network’s post-production pipeline.
  • Apply motion graphics and compositing work using Adobe After Effects and Photoshop to support producers across departments.
  • Work independently across overnight and weekend shifts when editorial and production staff are reduced, requiring strong self-direction.
  • Manage your own timeline within the Premiere Pro post-production workflow, keeping multiple requests moving simultaneously without missing air times.

What You Bring

  • Hands-on broadcast editing experience in a live news or episodic television environment, with a reel that demonstrates editorial judgment.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop, used at broadcast pace rather than in a long-form or offline context.
  • Working knowledge of Boris and Red Giant plug-ins within a broadcast post-production workflow.
  • The ability to turn raw, unedited footage into broadcast-quality pieces quickly, with a sharp eye for pacing, audio mix, and technical compliance.
  • Genuine knowledge of current events and news judgment that informs editorial decisions at the cut level.

Why This Role

Fox News Channel has ranked as the most watched cable news network for 20 consecutive years, and the broader Fox News Media operation reaches 200 million people monthly across broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms. Cutting for an audience at that scale, across that many platforms, builds a post-production resume that reflects real volume and variety. The pay rate for this Freelance Video Editor role is $30.00 to $40.00 per hour, with the final offer depending on experience and skills.

Submit your resume and reel for this Freelance Video Editor position at Fox News Media and put your broadcast editing experience in front of one of the largest news audiences in the country.
