Project Type: Feature Film
Job Date: Internship
Compensation: Paid Internship

DreamWorks Animation is hiring a Feature Modeling Intern for their Los Angeles area studio in Glendale, California for Spring 2027. This role sits inside the feature animation modeling department, where interns build production-ready character and asset models that feed directly into the studio’s animated film pipeline. It suits a student or recent grad who wants hands-on time inside a major animation studio’s modeling workflow, not just coursework credit.

About the Role

The Spring 2027 Feature Modeling Intern works embedded in DreamWorks Animation’s modeling team on active feature animated productions, getting real shot assignments rather than side projects. Day to day, that means building assets, attending dailies, participating in modeling launches, and coordinating with other departments to make sure elements hit the schedule. The program runs January 25 through April 1, 2027, part-time at 24 hours per week, and is conducted in person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build production assets and models to spec under the direction of senior modelers on an active feature animation project.
  • Manage individual shot task loads against the production schedule to meet delivery timelines across departments.
  • Troubleshoot creative and technical issues that arise during the modeling process, escalating when appropriate.
  • Coordinate with adjacent departments to ensure timely integration of modeled elements into assigned shots.
  • Attend dailies, modeling launches, and department meetings as a full contributing member of the team.
  • Participate in testing of new technologies within the modeling pipeline as needed by the department.

What You Bring

  • Current enrollment in or recent graduation from an Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate program, within six months of graduation date.
  • Some understanding of the modeling process, including topology and how shape and form serve character storytelling.
  • Familiarity with feature animation pipeline fundamentals and how modeling connects to downstream departments.
  • Must be 18 or older, authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship, and able to provide your own housing and transportation to Glendale.

Why This Role

DreamWorks Animation is one of the few studios where interns get placed inside actual feature film production rather than on internal or training projects, which means your work has a real chance of contributing to a released film. The program includes executive speaker series, professional development workshops, art tests, and film screenings that are genuinely useful for building a career in animation studio work. Compensation for the Feature Modeling Intern role is $18.47 per hour, with applications closing October 19, 2026 at 11:59pm PT.

Apply now for the Feature Modeling Intern, DreamWorks Animation, Spring 2027 position and get your models in front of one of the leading names in feature animation.
