This is a live performance role within a ticketed seasonal attraction, requiring sustained character work across back-to-back family bookings in a purpose-built grotto set. It suits performers with a background in theatre, pantomime, or live event performance who are comfortable working to tight running times with a supporting cast.

About the Role

The role sits within the live performance strand of the Winter Village production, running from 20 November through 24 December 2026. You will work inside a grotto environment supported by a dedicated elf performer and overseen by on-site Event Managers, with up to three family bookings cycling through every twenty minutes. Each session is tailored using a provided information sheet, so the work combines prepared character detail with live improvisation across every booking.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform the Father Christmas character across consecutive family bookings, maintaining warmth and consistency throughout each shift.
• Use personalised information sheets to recall child-specific details and deliver a tailored interaction for every booking.
• Improvise in character to manage unexpected moments while staying within the pacing set by grotto elves and Event Managers.
• Coordinate with the supporting cast and production crew to maintain smooth logistical flow between sessions.
• Pose for professional photographer setups and guest-led images as a standard part of each booking.
• Attend a pre-opening training day to familiarise yourself with the venue layout, team, and production workflow.

What You Bring

• A convincing and sustained physical portrayal of Father Christmas across long performance blocks.
• Experience in pantomime, theatre, or live attractions, though applications without formal credits will be considered.
• Strong character recall and the ability to absorb personalised booking information quickly before each session.
• Availability for an in-person interview in Cheltenham and the ability to submit a five-minute self-tape in character as part of the selection process.
• Availability across the published shift dates between November and December 2026.
