Job Position(s): ENG Camera Operator/Editor- Port Macquarie
Project Type: Commercial
Job Date: Full Time
Compensation: See Post

NBN Pty Ltd is hiring an ENG Camera Operator/Editor for their regional television news operation in Port Macquarie, New South Wales. This role sits within the WIN Television Network newsroom, where the successful candidate will shoot and cut news packages across a full range of rounds, delivering broadcast-ready content for a network that reaches approximately six million viewers nationally. It suits a working camera operator with editing chops who wants real ownership over their stories rather than being siloed into a single function.

About the Role

The ENG Camera Operator/Editor reports directly to the Chief of Staff and State News Director, working within a regional newsroom environment where the breadth of coverage is wider than most metropolitan gigs. On any given day, this person could be shooting a council meeting, a sports event, or an environmental story, then returning to cut the package to air. The full-time, Monday to Friday position is based at the Port Macquarie office and operates within a broadcast news production workflow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shoot broadcast-quality ENG footage across news rounds including sport, politics, community events, and environmental stories.
  • Edit news packages to broadcast standard, managing the full post-production workflow from ingestion through to delivery.
  • Conduct and frame interviews in the field, applying strong compositional judgment and appropriate lighting setups.
  • Identify and develop story angles with editorial awareness of what works visually for regional television news.
  • Manage competing deadlines across multiple stories within a single news day, prioritising accurately without sacrificing quality.
  • Operate a network vehicle to reach locations across the region, requiring a current unrestricted Australian driver’s licence.

What You Bring

  • Demonstrated experience operating ENG or broadcast camera systems in a professional news or television production context.
  • Hands-on editing experience with non-linear editing software used in a broadcast news post-production environment.
  • A portfolio or demo reel showing range across interview setups, sport, and community-based news content.
  • Strong time management under live broadcast deadlines, with a high level of accuracy in the edit suite.
  • A current, unrestricted Australian driver’s licence.
  • Valid Australian working rights, as required by the WIN Network for all staff.

Why This Role

The WIN Television Network is Australia’s largest commercial television network by geographic footprint, with interests spanning television broadcast, radio, and film and television production. A regional newsroom post like this offers a camera operator genuine editorial range that most single-round metropolitan roles cannot, covering every beat rather than specialising in one. The organisation also provides employee benefits including salary packaging, novated leasing, and an Employee Assistance Program.

Submit your application for the ENG Camera Operator/Editor role with NBN Pty Ltd, and include your cover letter, resume, and demo reel to be considered.
