Job Position(s): Drama Development Intern - Fall 2026
Project Type: TV Series
Job Date: Internship
Compensation: Paid Internship

Sony Pictures Entertainment is hiring a Drama Development Intern for Fall 2026, based onsite in Culver City, Los Angeles. This role sits inside Sony’s drama television development department, where the team shepherds projects from initial pitch through script, casting, director attachment, and pilot production. It’s the right fit for a student or early-career professional looking to understand how episodic television gets built from the ground up.

About the Role

The drama development team at Sony works across the full creative pipeline, meaning interns see a project at every stage rather than just one slice of it. A typical day involves reading incoming material, sitting in on pitch meetings or casting sessions, and supporting the desk with scheduling and call rolling. This is a paid, part-time position running September 8 or 14 through December 11, 2026, with 10 to 29 hours per week onsite, and the application deadline is August 7, 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and analyze incoming scripts and properties under consideration by the drama development team, building the skill set of a working development assistant.
  • Write script coverage on material the team is actively developing for episodic television.
  • Compile research on IP and source material being evaluated for possible option.
  • Roll calls and take notes on development and production calls, learning to identify what information matters in a creative conversation.
  • Schedule meetings between the drama team and key producers, writers, and directors across the industry.
  • Update status reports tracking all series in development, keeping the team’s slate current across stages.

What You Bring

  • Current enrollment in an accredited college or university is required.
  • Genuine interest in television development and the business side of episodic production.
  • Comfort working in a professional desk environment, including phones, scheduling, and real-time note-taking.
  • Ability to read scripts critically and articulate a point of view in writing.
  • Availability to work onsite in Culver City for the full program duration without remote flexibility.

Why This Role

Sony Pictures Entertainment has an active drama development operation that takes projects all the way through to series, which means interns get exposure to the full arc of how television gets made rather than sitting on the edges of it. The structured program includes executive engagement and networking built into the internship itself, not just the work. This is one of the more substantive drama development intern roles available at a major studio in Los Angeles.

Apply now for the Drama Development Intern position at Sony Pictures Entertainment and get into a room where episodic television actually gets made.
