Job Date: Full Time

Disney is hiring a Director, Production Innovation Technology (Disney Entertainment Television) based in Burbank, CA. This role sits inside DET Production Innovation and is responsible for building, scaling, and operationalizing AI-enabled creative workflows and proprietary production platforms that directly shape how Disney’s premium episodic television gets made. It’s a fit for a senior creative technology leader who has moved fluidly between production floors and engineering teams and has the credits to show for it.

About the Role

The Director, Production Innovation Technology works embedded within Disney Entertainment Television’s Production Innovation group, partnering with showrunners, studio leadership, and cross-functional engineering teams to bring experimental tools into active episodic television production at scale. Day to day, that means iterating on generative AI workflows, evaluating model performance against real production constraints, and driving adoption across multiple shows simultaneously. This is not a research role, the output is measured by what ends up on screen and how efficiently it gets there.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and scale proprietary production platforms and AI-enabled creative workflows used across active episodic television productions at Disney Entertainment Television.
  • Partner directly with showrunners and studio executives to translate creative intent into multi-show product solutions that hold up under production schedule and budget pressure.
  • Lead rapid iteration cycles on production tooling informed by creative team feedback, evolving generative AI model capabilities, and real post-production workflow demands.
  • Drive adoption and change management for new platforms across large studio environments, positioning them as core production infrastructure rather than one-off point solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-studio engineering teams to mature experimental capabilities, including node-based systems like ComfyUI, into long-term scalable platforms.
  • Develop Python-based automation and workflow orchestration tools that integrate into existing VFX pipeline and production technology infrastructure.

What You Bring

  • Seven or more years of senior-level experience in creative technology, VFX pipeline, virtual production, gaming, or streaming with direct impact on customer-facing content.
  • Hands-on experience deploying AI-enabled workflows at production scale, including practical knowledge of open-source AI models and graph-based systems such as ComfyUI.
  • Advanced Python proficiency applied to automation, workflow orchestration, and internal tool development in production environments.
  • Working knowledge of generative systems and neural networks, including how prompting, conditioning, and model architecture affect output quality and reliability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Film, Visual Effects, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Why This Role

Disney Entertainment Television produces some of the most widely distributed episodic television in the world, and this group has a direct line to that content, not a support function removed from production. The Director, Production Innovation Technology role is positioned to shape how AI tooling gets embedded into episodic television production at genuine enterprise scale. The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $203,600 to $248,800 per year.
