Director of Marketing & Communications
- Full Time
- Montreal, Canada
Rodeo FX
Rodeo FX is hiring a Director of Marketing and Communications based in Montreal, Canada. This role leads the full marketing and communications function for a major VFX studio, overseeing brand strategy, external communications, digital content, and business development support across an international production slate. It suits a senior marketing leader who understands the VFX and post-production industry and knows how to position a creative studio in a competitive global market.
About the Role
The Director of Marketing and Communications sits at the intersection of brand, business development, and creative output, working closely with studio leadership to shape how Rodeo FX is perceived by clients, talent, and the broader film and television industry. Day to day, this means managing a multidisciplinary team across content, PR, digital, and events while keeping communications aligned across multiple studio sites and business lines. The work spans everything from awards campaigns at VES and the Academy Awards to the social media presence that reaches the next generation of VFX talent.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the group-wide marketing and communications strategy, keeping it tied directly to Rodeo FX’s business objectives and production priorities.
- Oversee all external communications including press releases, corporate announcements, media relationships, and coverage across key entertainment industry outlets.
- Lead the studio’s presence at major industry awards and festivals including VES, BAFTA, HPA, and the Academy Awards, managing submissions, application files, and supporting materials.
- Direct the digital strategy across the website, social platforms, and content campaigns, setting platform-specific approaches that reflect where film and television audiences actually spend their time.
- Oversee production of sales and promotional tools including demo reels, client presentations, press kits, and case studies that support the business development pipeline.
- Manage and develop a multidisciplinary marketing team, setting clear priorities and raising execution standards across all studio locations and markets.
What You Bring
- Ten or more years of senior marketing or communications experience, ideally within a VFX studio, animation studio, or post-production company.
- A track record of leading brand strategy for a company operating across multiple international markets.
- Hands-on experience managing awards campaigns and industry recognition submissions at the festival or guild level.
- Strong editorial instincts and experience overseeing content creation for digital platforms in a production or entertainment context.
- Proven ability to manage and grow a team while keeping output consistent across geographies and departments.
Why This Role
Rodeo FX has built a reputation over two decades for high-end visual effects work on major feature film and episodic television productions, with studios in Montreal, Quebec City, Los Angeles, and Paris. This is a rare opportunity to shape how a studio of that caliber tells its own story, with the scope and resources to build something structured and lasting. The role carries real influence across the business, not just the marketing department.
Apply today for the Director of Marketing and Communications position at Rodeo FX and take the lead on defining how one of the industry’s most respected VFX studios presents itself to the world.
