The Fashion Retail Academy is hiring a Deputy Head of Hair and Beauty for its London College of Beauty Therapy site at Fashion Street, London E1. This role leads the Hair and Beauty curriculum across Further Education programmes, overseeing teaching quality, programme delivery, and student progression into professional roles across film, television, media, and the wider beauty industry. It suits an experienced education leader from a vocational or FE background who understands how industry-standard training translates into real careers on set and in screen.

About the Role

The Deputy Head of Hair and Beauty sits within LCBT’s Further Education department, reporting to the Head of Hair and Beauty and the Director of Further Education. The college trains students who go on to work in film and television hair and makeup, alongside spas, salons, and independent practice, so curriculum relevance to screen and media production workflows matters. Day to day, this role combines academic leadership with people management, quality assurance, and employer engagement across a team of Programme Managers and Lecturers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead curriculum development across Hair and Beauty programmes, ensuring content reflects current industry standards including screen and media production requirements.
• Manage and develop a team of Programme Managers and Lecturers, supporting teaching practice and driving measurable improvements in learner outcomes.
• Contribute to Self-Assessment Reports, Quality Improvement Plans, and Ofsted inspection preparation across the department.
• Build and maintain employer partnerships that create progression routes for students into professional hair and beauty roles across film, television, and the wider creative industries.
• Use performance data to identify curriculum gaps and implement targeted improvements across vocational education programmes.
• Oversee timetabling, resource planning, and operational delivery across the Tuesday to Saturday working pattern at the London E1 campus.

What You Bring

• Significant senior leadership experience within Further Education, Higher Education, or Apprenticeships.
• A teaching qualification and a degree or postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject area.
• Proven experience improving curriculum quality and learner outcomes within vocational education settings.
• Working knowledge of Ofsted frameworks, ESFA requirements, and quality assurance processes in post-16 education.
• Experience in employer engagement, particularly within screen, media, or beauty industry contexts.
