About the Role

The Crowd TD position lives inside Framestore’s Film and Episodic studio, contributing to some of the most ambitious visual effects work currently in production. Day to day, you are running crowd simulations, developing locomotion rigs, and coordinating closely with Modelling, Rigging, Animation, Motion Capture, and Lighting teams to ensure crowd work integrates cleanly into the final image. You will use a mix of proprietary Framestore tools and off-the-shelf software to hit the brief set by CG and VFX Supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and run crowd simulations as directed by the CG or VFX Supervisor, balancing realism with the artistic requirements of each shot.
• Develop locomotion cycles and motion behaviours that produce varied, believable performances across tens of thousands of digital characters.
• Work within the VFX pipeline to ensure crowd assets integrate correctly with Lighting, Animation, and compositing downstream.
• Support the research and development of new crowd tools and workflows that improve efficiency and output quality.
• Maintain clear communication with Production and department Leads to track deliverables and meet deadlines.
• Contribute to the documentation and standardisation of crowd processes across the studio.

What You Bring

• Demonstrable experience as a Crowd TD on feature film or episodic television productions.
• Hands-on proficiency with industry crowd simulation software such as Massive, Golaem, or equivalent tools.
• Solid understanding of character rigging and motion capture data integration as they apply to crowd work.
• Familiarity with scripting or pipeline development, Python being the most relevant in this context.
• A track record of delivering crowd work across multiple shots within a structured VFX production environment.
