This role sits inside the Nonfiction development group at Prime Video, where the work centers on identifying, developing, and shepherding documentary and documentary series projects from pitch through delivery. It suits a development executive who has hands-on experience with nonfiction content and understands how audience-forward storytelling translates into a streaming slate.

About the Role

This position reports to the Senior Creative Executive within Amazon MGM Studios’ Nonfiction team and supports the broader effort to build out Prime Video’s documentary programming in the US market. Day to day, that means reading pitches, giving notes on cuts and outlines, tracking projects across various stages of nonfiction production, and keeping filmmaker relationships moving between preproduction and final delivery. The slate includes high-profile documentary series as well as sensitive subject matter projects that require careful editorial judgment.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and surface compelling stories that fill genuine gaps in Prime Video’s nonfiction slate, with a focus on content that has a clear audience and streaming appeal.
• Evaluate incoming pitches and creative materials, applying both creative instincts and business judgment to identify what is worth developing or greenlighting.
• Provide detailed editorial notes on outlines and rough cuts to ensure the finished product meets the creative and quality standards expected of a major streaming documentary series.
• Manage day-to-day relationships with independent filmmakers and production companies across all phases of nonfiction production, from development through post-production.
• Support senior documentary content executives in shaping a slate that balances commercial viability with creative integrity across documentary and documentary series formats.
• Identify white spaces in the nonfiction content landscape and bring well-researched, actionable recommendations to the development team.

What You Bring

• Prior experience as a development executive in nonfiction television or streaming, with a track record of working across documentary series from pitch to screen.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate creative materials and give clear, constructive editorial notes at both the development and post-production stages.
• Strong working knowledge of the business and creative process involved in producing documentary content for a major network or streaming platform.
• Existing relationships with documentary filmmakers, production companies, or agencies are a meaningful advantage.
