Framestore is registering expressions of interest for an Unreal FX Artist based in London, United Kingdom. This is a mid-senior position within Framestore’s Immersive Studio, where the FX artist bridges pre-rendered VFX pipeline work and real-time Unreal Engine delivery for location-based entertainment and theme park ride experiences. It suits a practitioner who has genuine credits across both simulation-heavy VFX production and performant real-time content, and who is comfortable moving between those two worlds within the same project.

About the Role

The role sits inside the Immersive Studio team, which produces large-scale guest experiences for IP owners including theme park attractions and location-based entertainment installations. Day to day, you are building particle, fluid, rigid-body, and destruction simulations in Houdini and Maya, then translating those into runtime-ready elements inside Unreal Engine. This is contract work on a hybrid basis, requiring regular time in the London studio alongside potential international travel, and candidates must already hold the right to work in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Create particle, rigid-body, fluid, cloth, fur, and hair simulations for both pre-rendered VFX shots and performant real-time sequences inside Unreal Engine.
• Develop lighting rigs and materials that integrate directly with FX elements to produce the final rendered image or runtime output, depending on the project’s delivery format.
• Work within the established VFX pipeline alongside FX TDs and Technical Artists to supply approved FX elements on schedule and to the required technical specification.
• Design and build CG representations of naturalistic and stylised phenomena including fire, water, smoke, clouds, physical destruction, and particulates across both pipelines.
• Contribute to the development of tools, techniques, and pipeline processes that improve real-time FX workflows across the immersive production team.
• Coordinate with other departments at the shot level to ensure FX elements meet creative intent and perform within the technical constraints of the real-time environment.

What You Bring

• A portfolio demonstrating shipped FX work across both pre-rendered VFX production and real-time Unreal Engine projects at a mid-senior level.
• Hands-on production experience with Houdini and Maya for simulation work, plus direct experience authoring FX content inside Unreal Engine.
• Credits on theme park, location-based entertainment, or immersive experience projects are a strong advantage alongside traditional film or episodic VFX credits.
• The right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship, as the role is contract and no relocation support is available.
