Laika Studios is hiring an Assistant to Head of Television based in Los Angeles, CA. This role sits inside Laika’s Live Action department, supporting the Head of Television across all administrative and project management functions tied to the studio’s television development slate. It’s a strong fit for an organized, production-aware professional who wants to build a career in television development at a studio known for distinctive, story-driven projects.

About the Role

The Assistant to Head of Television works directly within Laika’s Live Action division, bridging communication between the Head of Television and cross-functional teams across the studio. Day-to-day work spans scheduling, meeting coverage, and keeping the development pipeline moving by tracking action items and maintaining alignment across departments. This is a desk that touches active television projects from early development through production, which means exposure to the full arc of how episodic television gets made at the studio level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Head of Television’s calendar, phone coverage, travel logistics, and expense reporting to keep the desk running without interruption.
  • Attend internal and external development meetings, capture detailed notes, and distribute recaps and action items to the relevant stakeholders across Laika’s Live Action and studio-wide teams.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional Live Action teams to ensure all administrative needs are identified and addressed as projects move through development stages.
  • Serve as a communication link between the Live Action department and other Laika divisions, maintaining alignment on priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Support project management functions across the television development slate, tracking materials, deadlines, and correspondence tied to active projects.
  • Maintain office organization and handle logistical support for the Head of Television to allow focus on higher-level creative and business decisions.

What You Bring

  • Prior desk experience at a studio, production company, or network, ideally supporting a senior executive in television development or live action production.
  • Familiarity with the workflow of episodic television development, including how projects move from pitch through green light at the studio level.
  • Strong command of scheduling tools, expense platforms, and office productivity software used in a production company environment.
  • Ability to write clear, accurate meeting notes and translate them into organized recaps that are actually useful to a working development team.
  • Comfort operating across multiple departments and managing competing priorities without losing track of details.

Why This Role

Laika has built a reputation over two decades for producing animation and live action content with a strong point of view, and the television division reflects that same standard. An Assistant to Head of Television here gets direct access to how a respected independent studio approaches television development, from the inside.
